The Official Plan for the Municipality of West Elgin is a planning document that includes a statement of goals, objectives, and policies for managing growth and development while protecting the environment and heritage characteristics of our community. It sets out a comprehensive framework for land use decision-making in our community.
By-law 2008-13 was adopted by Council on the 21st day of February, 2008; and approved by the Province of Ontario on the 7th day of February, 2011.

Applicant to Amend the Official Plan
After reviewing the Official Plan for your property, if the use, building, or structure you are proposing is not permitted on your property, you will require an Official Plan amendment.
Planning Pre-application Consultation is required prior to application(s) submission with the Municipality of West Elgin and applicable agencies.
Official Plan Amendment Application
This application is a fillable form that must be signed in front of a Commissioner of Oaths and Affidavits. Please contact the Municipal Office to book an appointment for signing.
The application fee is $2,600 (see Fees and Charges By-law).
(PLEASE NOTE: AS OF JULY 1, 2022 WEST ELGIN WILL ALSO BE COLLECTING A REVIEW FEE ON BEHALF OF THE LOWER THAMES VALLEY CONSERVATION AUTHORITY. THIS FEE IS BASED ON THE TYPE OF APPLICATION. PLEASE CONSULT WITH STAFF PRIOR TO SUBMISSION TO DETERMINE THE APPLICABLE AMOUNT.)
