• Encouraging the expansion of the agribusiness sector through new, value-added agricultural related enterprises
• Encouraging the expansion of business activity for existing commercial businesses in the downtown areas
• Encouraging the expansion of business activity within the manufacturing and industrial sector
• Increasing the number of business start-ups
• Increasing tourism
• Increasing accommodations for tourists
• Increasing the number of creative economy businesses
• Increasing employment opportunities for local residents

Improve quality of place

To improve the quality of place for residents and visitors, we plan to improve the appearance of:

• Major entry points and tourism corridors
• The lakeshore and improve utilization of the area
• The Municipality of West Elgin and foster civic pride through improvements to private properties

Improve stability and sustainability of the tax base

To improve the stability and sustainability of the tax base, we plan to:

• Reduce the number of vacant commercial building spaces in the downtown areas
• Reduce the number of vacant industrial/employment building spaces through the municipality
• Encourage the infill and development/redevelopment of vacant employment lands
• Increase the assessment base of properties in the downtown areas
