Before applying for a formal freedom of information request with the Municipality of West Elgin, you can:

We're often able to resolve requests for information without formal use of the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
Applying for a freedom of information request
Please complete a Freedom of Information Request and make sure you include as much detail as possible about the information you are requesting. You must provide proof of your identify, if you are requesting records that have your personal information, accompanied by the prescribed $5.00 fee for application.
There may be additional charges for search time and photocopies as prescribed under the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act.
Research and Record Preparation $30 per hour
Photocopies $0.20 per image
If the cost of the work required to meet the request is estimated to be greater than $25.00 an estimate letter will be sent to the requestor advising of the estimated cost prior to work being completed. Should the estimate be greater than $100 the legislation permits the requirement of a deposit of 50% of the estimated cost.
