The Municipality of West Elgin's Streetscape Plan outlines our plan to develop an attractive, distinctive and pedestrian friendly streetscape in the town centres of Rodney and West Lorne. This plan came out of our Community Improvement Plan.
Rodney Streetscape Master Plan
The Rodney Streetscape Master Plan included in the West Elgin Streetscape Plan focus on the area in Rodney town centre along Furnival Rd. from Albert St. to Main St. The key elements of the plan include:
- Street lights that reflect the historic character of the community
- Updated curbs and boulevards between the sidewalk and road
- Improvements to the South Gateway entering the downtown core
- Establishment of a Farmers' Market to generate economic growth
- Improve the courtyard and cenotaph square in front of the library
West Lorne Streetscape Master Plan
The West Lorne Streetscape Master Plan included in the West Elgin Streetscape Plan focuses on the one block radius extending from the main intersection of Graham Rd. and Main St. The key elements of the plan include:
- New street light design and the addition of more street lights
- Total replacement and repair of certain sidewalks
- Creation of an entrance gateway
- Development of a town square at the intersection of Graham Rd. and Main St.
- Creation of a Library courtyard
