The Port Glasgow Secondary Plan along with the Official Plan provides a development plan and policy framework for all new developments in the Port Glasgow area within the Municipality of West Elgin.

Area

Port Glasgow is situated at the mouth of Sixteen Mile Greed on the north shore of Lake Erie in the Municipality of West Elgin and Elgin County.

Guiding principals

Based on input received from the public related to the secondary plan, we identified five principals to guide the Port Glasgow Secondary Plan:

• Protect and enhance existing views of the lake
• Protect the natural environment
• Create a sustainable community
• Maximize the synergy of the marina and open space amenities to benefit the community and visitors
• Generate a well-defined and functional circulation and parking strategy that balances cars, pedestrians and marina activities
